As all of the threads in this forum show, the immigration process can be a series of brief frantic moments with lots of anxious waiting in between. Sometimes the flurries of activities all crash together and big advances emerge from the dust:(I started to write out all of the gory details and decided no one would care to read them)
1. We listed the house last Friday, had 12 showings and received 4 offers. Tonight we accepted the best one (better than we had ever dreamed!) and will close on August 15th.
2. My wife was offered and accepted a job in the one organization doing her kind of job in 200K of Nelson.
3. I reached an agreement with the person buying my company to let me continue consulting with US clients from NZ. This will let me be the house-husband while earning my keep :laugh
4. My father agreed to spot us a few nights in Fiji on the way down, since flying AirPacific is cheaper than Air New Zealand or Qantas.
5. I found a way to ship our entire household goods via Amazon for less than $200 NZD (OK, not really, but I thought since I was on a roll :p )
Tomorrow my wife is planning to give notice, I am going to try to book flights and firm up the shippers and we will start to get serious about finding a temporary place to live when we hit the Mainland.
These were our last big hurdles - employment and selling the house - after all of the angst we endured this spring, we got amazingly lucky (and we know a lot of it was not under our control) and have come through clean. We are all still bemused tonight, it will take a few days for these things to settle and for us to accept them as real.
Whew.. what can next week hold ?
