Hi everyone,
Well my degree is nearly complete, and we are thinking of starting the ball rolling and submitting EOI sooner rather than later.
Got a few questions though, if we are picked from the pool (125 points, no job offer) how long do you have to fill in the ITA when it arrives? I want to make sure we have enough money saved to be able to keep things moving once we start the process.
Thanks in advance,
Helen

Hi Helen... I seem to recall you've got 4 months, but I'm sure someone else will confirm this :)
Good luck with everything :nice1

Yup, you have a 4 month window at the end of which you must return it completed.

Thanks guys!
4 months eh? I think I might try and save a bit of cash before applying.
I think with the ITA you have to have medicals and police checks am I right? So that will cost a fair bit for 5 of us. We haven't even all got passports yet!! I didn't want to start the process then be delayed due to lack of funds.
Shame it's so expensive! On a positive note we've tidied the house up a fair bit, finally got rid of the old woodchip wallpaper, so hopefully it will be more attractive to future purchasers, we might auction it when the time is right.
Thanks for all your advice, we are definately up for this, just need to save a bit more first.
I am feeling excited about it now, even when I haven't done anythig yet!!

Helen, Just as a rough guide these are some of the costs. The ones I can't remember I'm sure others can fill in for me:
The medicals are going to be a hole in £900 for five
Police checks have changed recently to £20 I think - not sure
ITA itself costs £685
Migrant levy up to max of NZ$1200 (pay this when you want your blue sticker in passports)
UK passports - not sure someone will know soon but around £60

It certainly isn't cheap that is for sure!
Meds, police certs, possible NZQA checks, passports, EOI, ITA, Migrant Levy when you got your visas - it all adds up, then your flights and other expenses.
Best of luck to you :nice1

Hi again,
Yup I know how expensive most things are due to obsessional research for past year or two!!
Passports are a nightmare at £72 each for adults, and £46 kids. I have one which I haven't used for ages, but recently noticed they have inputted my date of birth incorrectly, so assume I'll have to get mine changed too.
Some things such as flights, moving expenses etc will come out of the house sale if we can shift it, it's just the expense of actually getting to the moving stage we need to find upfront so to speak.
We are going to start sticking some money in a savings account, and hopefully when we have about £1500 start the application process. Meanwhile my hubby is going to start looking for a job in NZ, although I think this will be difficult without a visa or money to fly over for interview. If I had my way I'd sell the house today and live in a caravan until we could get to NZ!!!!
