We need to book our ONE WAY flights to Napier for the first week in August and after looking at the prices am somewhat concerned!!!

Need to book for 2 Adults plus 2 Kids, preferably from Manchester.

Had a quick glance at
wwww.affordableflights.co.uk and they are coming up with quite a few options for under the £500 per person mark. Have a look
hth

These were flying from Manchester to auckland, I guess that you would have
the cost of onward flights from there (or drive it)

We did Manchester/Napier on Aug 6th last year, but went ANZ via LA for extra luggage allowance. This meant dearer fares than other airlines and had to go via Heathrow but we thought it was worh it for the luggage allowance. There were 7 of us!!

This year there are just the 2 of us going out in October to stay with daughter and family so have looked at all options. Best deal for us was Singapore airlines but don't know if they are best for one way. Its costing us approx £2,200 for 2 return fares to Napier, with the Napier/Auckland flight booked as a seperate item.

Flights which initially appear to be cheaper seem to add up to a similar price (or more) once you add on the taxes and the Napier flight.Alternatively they are from London not Manchester.

Have you tried pricing the same flights on different days. Monday and midweek are often cheaper.

Wouldn't recommend the drive from Auckland to Napier after such a long journey.
PM me if I can help further

Hi

We are travelling back to the UK end of November and spent a while looking for the cheapest return fare. It turned out buying a flight from NZ to Aus return and then buying the Aus UK flight separately was cheaper as there were more options and special offers from Australia than from NZ.

Also with children/infants we found the fare fron NZ to Aus was cheaper as the child reduction is more so you can take advantage of this rather than paying the higher percentage for the whole flight.

I am not sure if generally buying flights to Aus then an onward ticket is cheaper, but it saved us quite a bit when we looked at our flights for our holiday.

(realised you are talking about the other way UK to NZ , but same may apply worth a look if you have the time to do all the calculations!!!!!)

If you use any carrier other than AirNZ, then you will only have the 20kg baggage restrictions for your flight to Napier, rather than the more generous international ones. These are enforced more on small domestic flights as well, due to the size of the carrier.

If your inbound flight is delayed for any reasons, this too could have a knock on effect on your onward travel plans. Ensure you have plenty of time between flights if you aren't using AirNZ. (If you are using AirNZ, then they will just put you on the next available national flight at no extra cost.)

We flew from Manchester, booking flights online with Singapore air, to Auckland, then did a separate reservation with Air NZ for the internal flights, (we flew to Palmerston North) it worked out cheaper this way than booking it all on the singapore airline site! Also by travelling on the 13th we saved £1000, (for five of us!) Honest! If we had flown the day before or the day after it would have been an extra £200 per person. :no So if you can be a bit flexible with your departure it may pay off!

Singapore Air is an associate of Air New zealand, so no problem with the internal flights, if you use them and get the extra luggage allowance (usually an extra 10kg per person for migrants but you have to ask!)

You can always contact the internal carrier and ask if extra allowance would be allowed free, explaining that you will be coming from an international flight and are migrants! :)

I 'phoned Singapore Airlines yesterday to check prices of flights. We need to get to Wellington and the guy said it would be cheaper to book through a travel agents who get better deals when you need more than one airline.
He also pointed out the problem with internal flight connections onto AirNZ would not give you the higher international baggage allowance of unless booked as a complete ticket.

So I'm back to Air NZ until the travel agaents gets back to me on Monday.

Many thanks guys.

A very good point re baggage allowance, we don't want to get all the way to Auckland only to get stung with excess baggage costs flying to Napier.

So far Air NZ and Singapore airlines are coming up the best but will also pop into the travel agents and see what they come up with.

Don't take what he said for gospel! Compare the prices online, and go armed with the details to the travel agents, sometimes they will try to 'better the deal' - but personally for us they couldn't match the online offers in the Uk.

However booking internal flights here in NZ for my parents to fly back up to Auckland, the flight centre in town beat their own online prices!

Good luck
