Hi George&Dave,

Just a thought, but since there is no mention, either in your post, your signature or your profile, of where you're coming from, it may be difficult for people to answer your question ;) ?

Cheers,
Silver

There are plenty of opinions on shipping companies good and bad on this forum, so do a search and see what comes up.

You will find plenty of comments good and bad about all companies really so you are probably best going for the company that you are most comfortable with / cheapest quotes.

From a time perspective, the quickest that you could expect is 6 weeks, but it is more normal to take 8-10 weeks. There are also stories on here which have taken much, much longer :(

I’ve still yet to hear a bad word said about Crown.

Hi George and Dave

We used Pickfords and I haven't been too impressed, my only advice is when you get a quote make sure you know your final destination. Our initial quote was for Dunedin from UK, our goods were put in storage for a while (2 months) we then settled in Christchurch and they charged us an extra £900 because of the new delivery destination. We were initially told by them that if we changed delivery address to CC the price would only change SLIGHTLY. I know other people who have had this happen to them so it seems fairly common. The actual packers form Pickfords were first class though, just the international coordinators that have been rubbish.

How about this one then...Crown Relocation Co. (http://www.emigratenz.org/forum/showpost.php?p=154836&postcount=2).

Sure there are good and bad for all companies, and would agree that Crown do tend to get a better rep than some of the others, but they do tend to cost more so maybe the old adage of you get what you pay for is true here.

They were great for us moving to Hawkes Bay, NZ but my mum moved from London to Australia earlier this year and the catalogue of breakages is appalling. She was insured with Letton Percival on my recommendation so I'm really hoping they come up trumps for her!

The packers at the UK end were awesome as were the NZ unpackers, Crown kept us up to date through the process so if it hadn't been for my mum's experience I'd have said thumbs up.

Like I said I’ve still to hear anything bad about Crown.
Of course I probably should have quantified that statement…
When compared to the frequent horror stories about the other key players in the removals/shipping industry from UK to NZ.

Hi George and Dave,

We have opted to use Anglo Pacific, they have been really good so far and the price isnt too bad either, we got quoted £3,800 for a 20" container. They have 3 offices, one in London, Manchester and Glasgow - their main office number is 0208 965 1234, website is www.anglopacific.co.uk .

Good luck!

We used Crown and the service the NZ end was incredible. It was also good in the UK except they did not bring enough hanging wardrobe boxes and our clothes were pretty much shoved in a box and came out the other end looking pretty crumpled.

We used Crown because we had read so many negative posts about Moving Co and NZ Van Lines and Crown have NZ offices. We were very impressed - especially with the service given in NZ. They did cost £700 more than any of our other quotes though and we found it hard to have to pay that much!!!

We used Crown too and so far they have been excellent. They were GBP 500 dearer than the next cheapest which was Pickfords but we had so much hassle with Pickfords just to get a quote and we were not happy with the rep who came around. Our goods took exactly 6 weeks to come over which apparently is the norm for Crown. We now have to wait for our house to be built until we can give a full report on Crown as it is in storage now. But so far they have been excellent. They are dearer but we think it was worth it.

Very brave move :o as we have heard anglo pacific had very bad rep in last few years, I am interesting to see if they have changes since......
