Hi,

I have a work Permit that allows me only to work for one employer. If i move to another employer, it will be in the same field but not the same job title I think I will need a new Work Permit. Question is do I need to go through the whole process again? i.e. Health and Police checks etc.

Regards,

Paul

I think even if you're on a work permit and move to another employer even with the same job title, you'll need to re-apply for a permit. I'm not sure on health, police checks etc., though health checks aren't needed for one year permit anyway.

If you need to change the terms of your work permit then you can submit an Application for Variation of Conditions (form here (http://www.immigration.govt.nz/NR/rdonlyres/6F4DB4F7-7154-4366-A9F9-C01CFF8F2131/0/1020Feb14FINAL.pdf)).

My current Work Permit does not expire until Sept'10, I would like to be able to keep this permit, but want to change this so that I can work for another employer. My potential new employer is on the list of accredited employers in New Zealand. I would continue to work in the same area and not move to another part of New Zealand. So its an employer change and a job title change.

Hopefully the form that IAN sent the link to is al that is required. But does anyone know that is definetly the case?

I have been told by immigration that it owuld take 30 days for a new work permit to be issued. But as I say I want to keep the one I have now as this does not expire until Sept'2010.

Paul

Hi Paul.

The paragraph below is from the NZ Immigration website:

I'm no longer working for the same employer as when I was granted my permit. Does this affect my Work Permit?

If your employer is named on your Work Permit, then you need to inform us that you’ve changed employer. You will need to apply for another Work Permit and must apply for a new permit when you have a job offer. You should not start work in your new job until you have a new Work Permit.

If you gained your permit because you secured a job with an accredited New Zealand employer, you’ll only be able to remain in New Zealand if you’re working for another accredited employer. Even if you find work with another accredited employer, we’ll still need to approve the arrangement.

Hope this helps.

I would send a PM to Kim39 and ask as I'm pretty sure that he has used this form before (last count 7 times :D)
