Hi Forum Members.....

As a new member, firstly I would like to say Hi, and look forward to utilising this excellent resource.

I have made the decision that I would like to emmigrate to NZ. This has been a well considered decision, and I am confident that I have thought it through.

I would really appreciate some advice on options. My background is as follows:

- 35
- Applied Chemistry background, and Educated to Master of Science level in Pharmaceutical Science.
- Chartered Chemist, and Chartered Quality Professional
- EU Qualified Person - Eligible for Legal Certification of Pharmaceuticals in European Union
- 15 Years industrial Experience in Pharmaceutical Industry, roles as Analytical Chemist, Lab Manager, Project Manager, Quality Manager, and Global Product Assurance Leader.

I am totally lost as to what profession I should try and proceed with the EOI. Also, Analytical Chemist is in the Immediate Skills Shortage, but not in the immigration profession - am I missing something?

Based on my background, what are my chances or getting a satisfactory score to register for EOI, and subsequent immigration to NZ?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

Ed.

Ed, the immigration.govt.nz website has a "points indicator" that you can use to find out how many points you'd have before submitting an EOI. That's probably the best way to find out about your points.
go here: www.immigration.govt.nz/pointsindicator/
good luck!

Hi there - as above check the points indicator and have a look at the relevant qualification lists and occupation lists on the NZIS website.
Best of luck

Hi, and thanks for the warm welcome......:)

The reason for posting is that I have been on the website for EOI and points, and am rather confused by it all. As an analytical chemist, which was my primary role for a majority of the past 15 years, I am on the immediate skills shortage list, which I believe is for 3 years visa. My profession does not then appear to feature on the permanent immigration skilled worker - unless I am blind - again I was hoping someone with a bit more experience may be kind enough to help here. From an education perspective, I have a Masters from the University of Manchester - again how many points does this give me......

Sorry for all the relatively mundane questions - I just need to know if I am allocating the right points to myself etc.....

Thanks again for help so far.....

Ed

Any help from forum members regarding the points system and my likely score would be greatly appreciated.

In addition, I have started approaching a number of companies in NZ, I am hoping that I may get some interest, and maybe a job offer.... would this help with the EOI?

Many thanks,

Ed.

... a job offer will certainly help with gaining additional points towards your EOI and ultimately obtaining PR.

You mention you've decided to emmigrate to NZ, well the next stage is completing you EOI... it'll clearly state upon completion how many points you've obtained.

Good luck :nice1

yes a job offer would be very helpful for your EOI, although it can be a bit tricky to juggle potential employers when you don't have the visa yet, but these things are sometimes possible :)

I understand that I need to complete the EOI - I just don't know if I am correct in some of the fields I have selected. I was hoping that someone with previous experience of the EOI process would be able to offer some advice / validate my score based on the info I provided at the begining of my thread.

In addition is anyone able to clarify the situation on Analytical Chemist on Immediate Skills Shortage, and permanent immigration? According to the website, I could get a 3 year work permit, but I would really appreciate any help / guidance on how this relates to permanent immigration?

Can anyone recommend an expert in the visa process that I can consult about the above in the UK? I am really keen to progress this EOI, but really want to make sure this has been completed correctly. My profession does not appear to be as staright forward as a teacher for example, which is why I am struggling a little.

Many thanks.

Its not worded very clearly on the website is it?? I can see your point. I was under the understanding that the Immediate Skills Shortage list applied to Job offers for Residency as well as Work Permits. As far as I am aware, if you occupation appears on either of these lists your potential employer can make you a job offer without having to prove to NZIS that they have made every effort to employ locally (ie, not a migrant). I think this will only be relevant to you when you have a job offer. As it stands at the moment, I would fill out your EOI claiming points for your qualification - there is a list of recognised qualifications on the NZIS website, make sure yours appears on that, if not you will have to get it assessed by NZQA to see what level you can claim for - and your relevant years of work experience. You may find that you have enough points to submit your EOI without a job offer, and can claim points later when (if) you get one before you are offered PR.
