I've just had an email from London saying that at 115 points I don't have enough to be accepted into the pool. But it then goes on to say I will have my EOI put back into the pool!!! Confused? Yes, so am I.

On this basis we have been declined to be offered an ITA.

Obviously we need to get more points, which a job offer would give me, and I'm working on that, but is there something I'm missing here?

If anyone else has gone through this process please would you let me know what you did and how things worked out for you. PM me if you'd rather not use the open forum.

It's dark here, the sun hasn't risen yet and this is a real blow to me. We've come so far I'm not going to give up at this point. What should I do next anyone?

Hi Jeannie,
I imagine they mean not enough points to be selected as you sumised and I'm sure you 'only' need 100 to be in the pool. You are left in the pool for three months I think.
Don't let it get you down as you say you've only just got there. If you or OH can get a job then that has got to help with points. I'm sure others wil be around soon with sound ideas too.
Keep smiling and good luck

Oh poor you but I know exactly how you feel!

We went into the pool with 135 points (we thought), no job offer and got selected pretty quickly. However, they then reduced our points because OHs degree didn't match experience and said we would be going back into the pool with 110 points!

So we made the decision to invest in him coming to NZ for 1 week on a reccie and for job interviews - he'd had some promising conversations with recruitment companies, a couple of telephone interviews etc. Cutting a long story short, he came to NZ, had 11 interviews (even with Anzac day in the middle of the week) and came home with 3 job offers. He accepted one of the offers, informed our CO and hey presto we got sent our ITA.

Sounds like you got into the pool (you only need 100 points), they've had a look at your EOI and decided to put you back into the pool for now rather than send you an ITA. Its now time to sit and wait to see if you get picked again because points criteria have changed OR get job offers which you can update your EOI with which should result in being sent an ITA.

Sorry this is a bit rambly, but I hope it makes sense. Wishing you loads of luck!

Similar thing happened to us, we just sold house anyway, OH came over and got a job, then me and the children followed.

If you want it badly enough don't give up, hope things work out in the end.

Good Luck

thank you for sharing your experiences, it doesn't seem so overwhelming to me now, knowing it's surmountable in the end. :)

Since 7am, when I got the email from London I've had three companies contacting me, asking me to come for an interview next week. What a crazy rollercoaster this process can be. They're pretty much spread around NZ so hopefully one of them will come up with a solid offer of employment.

Once again, thanks guys, I know you understand what this is like. This forum is the mutts n*ts :yes
