My passport has been sitting in the Chch Immigration branch for almost three weeks, waiting for my PR stamps. I was told by my case officer that they are experiencing delays in processing migrant levies. I assume it should a simple case of entering in my credit card information, charging $300, and stamping the passport, no?
Is anyone else stuck waiting for stamps? How long did it take Immigration to do your stamps, after you were granted PR in principle?

Oh No and we are going to send our passports off in a few weeks. We are told to send them to London only though. Can I send them locally?

You are joking? :laugh
They’re bureaucrats’ nothings simple for them, yes I know they’re just following policy, you have to pity them really.
Three weeks does sound a long time even for NZ Immigration, ours took just over a week at Palmerston North office.
Belmont Babes yes it is possible to transfer your case to a local NZ office, which is what we did. I completely understand why people might be reluctant to send their passports on an unaccompanied round world adventure, I was.
Just ask your case officer to transfer your file to the NZ office closest to you.
Best wishes

Hi.
I walked our passports round to the Welly office 2 weeks ago, and have been emailed today to say that they are ready for collection.

Weird. Ours took 3 days in Welly, a couple of months ago. Then again they still ignored my instructions to let me know when they were ready so I could pick them up; instead they couriered them.

OH is going to pop our passports etc into CHC office tomorrow so will report back on timescales then - thankfully we don't have any overseas trips planned anytime soon :)

I now have a $300 charge on my credit card from Immigration, so I hope that means they have processed the levy! :) Still, it appears you shouldn't count on any hurry.

Belmont Babes, call INZ on Victoria/Alma St and speak to somebody there. We have transferred our application for residency and once the file has been sent from London we just need to drop in our passports with a covering letter - which we will be doing on Monday! Good luck.
PS i was with ward chandler with your husband for a while i think? Say hello for me. I hope all is going ok for him, it can be difficult at first.
Regards, Paul.
