Hello,
My wife and I have been in Auckland for nearly 11 months now on 18 month work visas (expire Feb 2009). We will got back to the States in 2009, but we'd like to extend our visas by ~3 months so we can stay through the NZ summer.
My question is what do I need to go through for this 3 month extension? I know I will need to submit a new application, but do I need health checks and my employer to fill out more forms (I hope not...they will know I'm leaving if I ask them to fill out forms for a 3 month extension).
The info I found on the NZIS website says you need a chest x-ray for 6-12 month stays, but it was not clear if that would apply in my case (since May 2009 is more than 6 months away, but less than 6 months from my current visa's expiration).
We love NZ and are sad to be planning our eventual departure but the cost of living here is a killer for us.
