So we've been here for 3 weeks now, living in a hotel and diligently looking for a rental house that accepts our dog. Our only current prospect is a marginally livable ancient musty cottage! We have been turned down so many times. What do people have against dogs? Especially such a loveable one such as ours (St Bernard mix) who does far less damage and makes much less noise than your standard model child. OK, I won't get going on that.

Does anyone know of anyone who has a place for rent in Wellington that is friendly to dogs? We have our preferences...such as: within walking distance of the CBD, close to the harbor and shops, with some lawn or garden, has good sun and is warm...but by this point we are willing to live anywhere decent that accepts our dog and that my wife feels comfortable at (she stays at home with the dog mostly). We have super-positive references from past landlords and would make good tenants for someone.

Many landlords are used to yard dogs, and in some cases get hastle from neighbours from barking, etc.

I suggest you make it clear that your dogs are house trained, inside pets, etc., and be prepared to pay a cleaning bond.

We don't have our furniture (or dog!) yet, actually, they should arrive mid-August or so. We're just trying to find a house before the month of hotel stay that my employer provided runs out (next week).
