We've got our ITA and my wife, who is the main applicant is a secondary school teacher of maths here in UK.
We are obviously going to prove her 6+ years of teaching experience, but does anybody know if her qualifications (degree in mathematics and PGCE in secondary school mathematics) need assessing by the NQZA or should we be ok?
It is obviously a very recognized qualification, but I don't want to be caught out in case we need it checked also.
Thanks.

Hi
Apparently you will have a form in your ITA pack if they require you to get your Quals assessed, hope this helps

There is a list of recognised qualifications on the NZIS site, there should be a note of where exactly in the papaerwork with the ITA. If the degree is on the list then no NZQA. If not, you need it assessed.

Hmmm, NZQA appears to be popping up regularly at the moment... this link (http://www.emigratenz.org/forum/showthread.php?t=18937) will be of help, especially lockstock's comment.
Good luck :nice1

Thanks for the replies, but dammit, we've been sitting on out ITA for about 4 weeks now (been ridiculously busy with other things) and haven't started to do the NZQA reg. which it seems we need to get started NOW if we need a chance of getting back in time before the 4 months lapses.
My heads in a spin - anyone help point me into the right direction to where I need to get started getting the NZQA process going?
I'm looking at the NZQA website - seems like a blur at the mo.....

... I would have thought by registering with the NZ Teaching Council that they'd do all the assessing
I've mentioned it before, but OH has shelled out $465 to register with the NZNC and part of that fee is to cover them assessing OH's qualifications, etc.
Good luck :nice1

Hi there - I sent all my documentation off to NZQA a few weeks ago now. I'm a secondary teacherd also. You definitely do need NZQA assessment - not necessarily for your initial EOI application, but for the NZTC. The NZQA will verify your degree, etc. and notify NZTC directly: there is a box you tick at the bottom of the form. Make sure you tick them all. PM me if you like and I will give you more details on the process. Or, check on the other messages from me - I gave a lot of details of Lisa and Matt about exactly the same thing. The process is time consuming because there is a lot of documentation to be gathered.

im a teacher also , I agree with ice maiden .
As my husband was main applicant - because when we applied he was younger than me and not heavily pregnant!!!!!!!:laugh
He got his quailification assessed through NZQA for immigration purposes,
but we waited on mine until we were accepted as it costs £ - It is taking forever - as our house hast sold its not a problem at the moment - once i get my quailification assessed by NZQA - i have to register with the teaching council . You can go out and work until it gets sorted but you will be on a low salary. It so they can assess your pay scale.
If you pay extra you can fast track - dont know amount as my OH has been sorting it out.
All the info you need is on govt website :cheers
