Hi all,
We have been informed that our shipping company also offer a service to sort out your tax return (any money owed to you which has been overpaid during the financial year) for you for a 10% fee. Has anyone been down this road before, would it be worthwhile or is doing your own tax return not so difficult (I work for a company and am not self employed)
Thanks
Tony

Co-incidence. I have been looking at this for myself for the last hour or so and have to say I think if you are employed with a tax code I don't see why you can't do it yourself.
Have a look at hmrc.gov.uk and find form p85. This is what you need to fill in and it seems fairly straight forward - they even do the calculation of under/over payments for you and pay anything back into a nominated account.
I spoke with the tax office as well and they have 'technical' people that are there to help with situations like yours and mine.
Good luck

Hi Guys we did do it ourselves :) and had some lovely cash back. There is a form you can down load from the IRD website which you need to complete and then post off to them. You will need your p45/summary of earnings so I organised for my mother to recieve it and then post it for us.
Well worth it by the way :nice1
Best wishes

Thanks Guys,
THats a big help - I did question the fact of what the point would be in paying someone else to do it when we would still need to fill in all the forms. Will look into getting the forms now.
Cheers!!

Yup, did the same. Pretty simple if you've been a 'normal' PAYE employee.
