We have had three quotes in for moving our goods. Two of the companies are quite popular and I have found lots of references to them but not many for Whites. Has anyone used them? Are they any good?
Two of the companies use NZ Van Lines and one uses the Moving Company. I know there have been various amnounts of good & bad rep for these companies but I would be interested to know if anyone has any experience of the Cristchurch end? This may help me with my final decision.

We also had to chose between White's and John Mason's and we end up chosen JM because I didn't like the rep that White's was using as he was a prat (showing off his technologies with handset computer:roll) and not helpful :roll...so sorry we don't know what White's like.
Just warn you, Moving company in christchurch...not good unless anything change in last few months :no
Good Luck!!

Sorry can't help with your question, but had a laugh at my own expense over your thread - I misread the title and thought it said 'anyone used white's SLIPPERS' (got cold feet so thats my excuse!) I clicked and read on to find out what these amazing 'white's slippers' were!!!!!!!!!!!! OOps :o

We have used Whites twice.
We used them the first time when I was relocated through work from Leeds to Scotland. We didn't actually choose them - work were paying and that was who they sent.
We were very impressed and that was why we decided to let them quote for the international relocation as well. Their quote was cheapest and most comprehensive.
They are a nationwide company and have been around for donkeys years. They are 'preferred suppliers' to Royal Bank of Scotland (hence using them for my work relocation) so clearly offer a competitive corporate service.
On both occasions they were extremely good and their packers hard working and friendly.
Part of the package we were offered included free local storage for up to 4 weeks in the UK, if required, and a pretty competitive price for storage past that date if necessary.
I think Lockstock used Whites too. I would certainly recommend them. They were always responsive - before, during and by email after we had moved to NZ.

We used Whites from UK to Nelson and were very happy with service at both ends - professional, courteous and very helpful. We used NZ Vanlines at this end as they gave us the choice.

Could you post a link to White's please? (have tried googling but found Gander & White antique storage, not really what I need!)

What was the problem you had with the Moving Company?
Of the 3 shippers we have had round the one we like best uses the Moving Company. I maybe able to negotiate a change but it may cost.

A few years ago the movers we used (a while ago now so no names, no pack drill) had all good answers to the UK end, and as a bunch of movers, did a great job. They advised us in great detail how stuff would be securely stored in the UK.
But I was less impressed to the NZ end.
Heres a photo taken from the street of ours (and a lot of other) stuff; note the complete lack of security and segregation. From memory, due to local problems, this stuff stayed like this for a couple of months, and needless to say, some stuff has never been found. So don't just ask about the UK end; ask many questions about the NZ end. And in particualr be absolutely precise in accepting your stuff on delivery, checking every single package against the inventory. We didn't do a good enough job here, and that lack of accuracy was our loss.

Was all your stuff put in storage in NZ? I thought if you had sole use container it arrived at your door still in the container unless it had been stored. Well that's what i have been told by the different companies we have had round.

Better if you do search on moving company/MC ...you are in for shock on how bad christchurch's MC is....Good Luck
I would avoid them if you can or warn UK's company about chch's MC (unless they knew about it....) to see what they offer you instead.
For sole user as same as me, they bring whole shipping container to your house for you.............when they are "free".
DB - I was in Gingerbread Bakery last week and MC's van was parked outside because they had to "exchange" drink chillers (remove old for new ones) at bakery but I couldn't believe to see behind the new chiller is piles of someone's John Mason boxes....not in lock up or similar, just a van, so someone's stuff have been removed from shipping container and stuff into van. I wondering how long it has been there??? and to have chillers exchange is more important than boxes?? :exit
