We've got friends and their 4 ( ) kids coming down from the North Island at the school holidays and need some advice please. A couple of their kids are prone to asthma and chesty problems - anything I can do around the house to minimise chances of bringing asthma on? Obviously I'll clean, hoover etc and try to keep house as dry and warm as possible - does it help to hoover beds etc?? Am clueless about all this and don't want to worry my friend :roll
Thanks

Have you had a look at the Asthma NZ wensite, I don't know as lot about it (luckily don't have to) but I have had a good look to try preventative measures & found temperature important, sounds like what your doing is good though & nice to know you are making an effort, can't imagine many people do

If it worries you, I'd ask them. The triggers can be quite different for people, so to be sure, ask the parents.
We have a child with asthma, but I just take his inhalers, I don't really worry about going places, seeing people, or wonder what conditions we'd find there.
But four kids? How are you goint to get ready for THAT! :)
Daniela, who usually enters friends' houses saying 'we've come in peace' (Mars Attacks, anyone?), and it usually proves to be worryingly appropriate...

Best advice is ask the parents what is the trigger as asthma attacks cause by trigger, like animals, foods, etc, then elimation the trigger from your house as much as you can. Once you done your job, then it is down to parents to do next job ;)
Most important, just relax....

Yes I think I am worried more about having six kids and 4 adults under one roof - however their kids are remarkably well behaved :yes Just mine I have to worry about really :laugh I think we will be fine as we don't have any animals and rent a fairly new, warmish house. I will ask my friend it's just that it's an expensive trip for them travelling down and don't want any mishaps to disturb us grown-ups catching up :D
Thanks folks as ever full of useful info
