Hi All,

Fantastic forum and I have found so many answers to the questions that have been richocheting around my head (usually at 2 or 3am) :uhoh

I was born and bred in NZ but left for my 'gap year' but that was 10 years ago...my parents are in Dunedin, Port Chalmers to be exact - directly opposite the Otago Pennisula. However, we are looking to live near Christchurch (ever so slightly warmer).

When is all this happening? Well, we have just sold our house :clap (only took 4 days so with a little sprinkling of luck and if it is on at the right price, it's doable even in this current market), about to move in with the in-laws to save up some more money and will be there about November time.

Even though we went last year, we are attending this October's NZ Expo again so OH can make some contacts and hopefully get work. He's a Project Manager which is on the skills shortage list...we'll see.

Anyway, I'm sure you'll hear more from me...those 2am questions will come a-calling again I'm certain!

Hello and welcome. Whereabouts in Essex are you? (I was born and brought up there...)

Are you applying for a partnership visa?

Hello and welcome to the forum :)

It's a nice part of NZ you're originally from... whilst travelling around during our 'recce' in April our 5 year old son liked the Otago Peninsula, especially the Royal Albatross Centre.

Fantastic news about selling your house so quick, wow!!!

Plenty of folk on the forum looking to relocate to Christchurch. We too hope to settle on the outskirts of the city... work depending!!!

Best of luck with everything and keep us all posted :nice1

Hi Jo Jo

We are in Harlow, my husband works for Nortel Networks and they have a big office here. It's great for access to London and Stansted but I am struggling with our quality of life here.

Yes we are applying for the partnership visa...OH has just been called back for a repeat bloodtest...something that freaked us out because he is really fit and I just assumed that would be the least of our worries.

How did you do it all?

Hi, I also applied for the partnership visa (my husband is a kiwi) and my application was very straightforward - from submission to approval in principle took 4 weeks. I hope all goes well with your OH's blood test, and you get your visa approved very quickly. If there are any problems with the blood test, then search for wiki's posts on the medical waiver process for partners. Good luck!

Thank you all for your welcome messages!

Good tip re keeping quiet about our house selling so quickly...I won't say a word! :uhoh

And thanks very much for the medical waiver tip too - I didn't even know about it. Kev's protein levels were just a smidge too high, not high enough to be referred back to his GP but outside the band set by NZ. Had repeated blood test on Friday so we'll see how that goes.

Expensive process that's for sure!
