Hello everybody on this forum! :p

We made up our decision to emigrate and just started looking for a job in New Zealand. We know it is difficult, but we want to start a new life there with our little daughter.

We have contacted with a couple of companies that theoretically deal with all the paperwork and help finding a job in NZ, but the fees they ask are really high. :wah Do you think it is really necessary to have this kind of "help" or we can deal with everything by ourselves? :uhoh

BTW is there anybody from Spain here?

Thank you very much and glad to meet you all :cheers

Hello and welcome - judging by all the really useful info and advice on here, most people have done the paperwork by themselves (which is what I shall be doing) :)

Hello and welcome.

It is time consuming and frustrating doing it yourself, but it really isn't difficult and there is tons of help and advice available right here. If your situation is relatively simple then I wouldn't waste my money on using an agent.

Good luck.

Hello! We're cheap, so we did our own. It required PERSISTENCE, patience, organization, careful reading (there is contradictory information all over the place), and the ability to track down documents and people. Timing makes a difference, too. For example, regarding medical tests: heed the advice of people who say to schedule those for late in the game because you don't want to worry about those expiring and having to be redone. We came very close to that. And keep in touch with the forum. We began the process not really believing that it would work out...but it did. You can do it, too.

Bienvenidos :)

I'm from the UK but lived in Oviedo for a year (and what a fab year that was!!). Good luck with your application - we didn't use a consultant for our visas, and was glad we didn't as they cost a fortune and the process was fairly straightforward.

Take care :D

Hi and welcome!

IMHO there is so much advice and info on this forum for free, I wouldn't pay a consultant to do your paperwork. Save your money for fun in NZ when you get there!!

Thank you very much for the warm welcome and for your opinions... As you suggested, we are going to try to do everything ourselves... It seems that my husband has 140 points without a job offer... So we are looking for a job for him (well, for both of us) to accelerate the process. :nice1

The worst part is trying to sell our house. In Spain now is practically impossible to sell a house, because banks don't give mortgages to anybody :wah

Thank you all again

Gracias :cheers

¡Hola y bienvenidos! Fuí a la españa y madrid diez años pasado. Creo que los personas que ayudar con las papeles son un pérdida de dinero.

Creo que necesito practicar mi español mas.

Do you have the option of renting your house out while it's on the market? That way the mortgage is still being paid, at least. :)

Wow 140 points without a job offer huh? You shouldn't be in the pool for too long. ;) Or without an ITA for that matter.

We were worried about this too but you may just get lucky! We dropped the price of our house by £10k before putting it on the market and it sold within 4 days...not that I am advising you to do this :no , but there is more than just 1 option. There is a thread on here about selling your house, maybe it'll be worthwhile taking a peek there?

Best of luck!
