Hi Guys

I have the following qualifications from Cape Technikon, National Diploma & Bachelor of Technology in Information Technology

Now do I have to get them certified by NZQA for my EOI?

Cheers
Jamie

Hello, and welcome to the forum.:)

This link may help you decide. http://glossary.immigration.govt.nz/NR/rdonlyres/CE113D29-EFBF-4924-BA15-00AEF9911F83/0/1080.pdf From what I've seen other people say when preparing their EOIs, whether you need to get your qualifications checked with NZQA or not depends on various things - your line of work, whether you need more points from the qualification to make up your total, etc.. If you like to give a few more details of your situation, no doubt some of the people who've been through the process will help you when they come online later.

I don't do NZQA questions :) but this link may help:-Planning on Studying or Working in NZ - NZQA (http://www.nzqa.govt.nz/for-international/index.html)

Hi Guys thanks for the replies.

My wife and I are in the process of getting our things together for the EOI.

We are both working in the IT industry in SA I am a .net C# developer with 4 years experience, therefor I think that I can get some extra bonus points for being in the "identified future growth areas" and "areas of absolute skills shortage" for my qualifications and work experience.

That is why I ask if I have to get my qualifications verified by the NZQA.

I dont have and offer of skilled employment so my points only add upto 130, would that be enough?

Any comment suggestions will be welcome!!

Cheers

Hi Jamie

130 points is certainly enough and many people have gotten PR on less points and no job offer. Without a job offer, the waiting period is just a little longer (about 2 months). Just a word of caution on the bonus points claim... read up carefully the conditions of claiming the bonus points. There are a few catches like your qualification must be directly associated with the work experience and in some instances you may only claim bonus points if you already have a related job offer in NZ. Also if you claim bonus points it increases the chance that you will be required to have your qualifications assesed by NZQA. I'm not sure about this, but it been my understanding from what I've read up so far.
