My daughter arrived in New Zealand in April this year. At the beginning of May she had her car stolen from outside her house in One Tree Hill. She moved on Friday to Parnell. She's just phoned me to say her locked and immobilised car has just been stolen - again.

How's that for a first three months?

with odds like that it might be worth getting a lottery ticket. is car theft fairly rife in NZ then?

I had my car stolen from my office (uk) which had people walking around it all morning. I could even see my car from my desk if I moved 5 feet. Still got nicked. Mostly its about the opportunists, wrong place wrong time although some cars are obviously easier to steal than others. According to the police my car alarmed and immobiliised could be broken into in 10 seconds or less. bah.l
