I am sorry in advance to ask this question as I am sure sometime/somewhere it's been asked.
I am now in a housemate setup with 2 others, but in 3 weeks I am getting my own house in Miramar (Welly). It's a Southwestern facing hillside large 2 bedroom, with separate large living room, dining room and kitchen. It has a built-in wall/fan dehumidifing system. In December, my partner will be moving in with me as well. She's very conservative too.. even moreso than me!
I am very VERY good at turning off lights and etc, to conserve energy & don't watch TV. Can anyone give some good advice for this? There are far too many energy companies and plans to choose from here in Welly.. this is confusing..
cheers!

Simple answer is to go to www.powerswitch.org.nz and enter your details.

I went there already.. :) it just lists tons of places that are all within $10 of eachother (yearly cost) which is not much of help really. I am asking for people's personal experiences and recommendations now. Those are just estimates of bills..
cheers!

Interesting, normally there is a bigger range of differences than $10.
Would normally say use this website to get down to the top 3 then check these out to see which suits your needs best.
My personal recommendation would be Genesis, but as they are the only company that we have used, can't really say if they are better or worse than anyone else.
Would say to check out if they offer any rewards that you could also use e.g. Fly Buys, AA rewards etc.
And also how much discount that they give you for prompt payments.

I'm with Contact as our house was already with them when I moved in, I was told another company was cheaper but when I called & we compared, where they were cheaper in one area they were more expensive somewhere else so it was swings & roundabouts & I have stayed where I am for now. It seems to differ from area to area I think as it seems Lower Hutt may be cheaper than where I am
Sorry can't offer much help, seems you just go with one until you can use Ian's site to compare bills
Maybe someone will come up with some more companies, be helpful for me too :)
