Well it had to happen, after my BMI etc the Medical Assessor has come back with a huge big no-no as i officially fit in the "morbidly obese" range :wah

So he wants the following tests:

-ECG
-Creatininine-Microalbumin Ratio
-Ultrasound of Liver

Can anyone shed any light on these please? i have no idea of what they are or require? Let me guess more needles!? :wah
And anyone any idea of the costs roughly? My lawyers want me to get back to them with the results asap, easy for them to say, there A) not phobic of anything medical and B) not skint!

/cry /cry /cry
Seriously seriously considering giving up now..... I am who i am NZ, like it or lump it....!

:(:(

no needles this time :D

ecg, it is simple and straight-forward. they will sticks few stickers on your chest around the heart

mirco/alb ratio - just wee into pot!! or if they want want more in depth, they ask for 24 hour collection :D mean 1 or two big bottles!!

liver scan, same as preg scan to get idea :D

30th June 2008, 03:35 PM

assume you may go here for it, assume again it may cost $200 :wah
Good luck

Yup, you're safe from the dreaded needles Lee. No idea on costs though. All doable by your local GP I would think.

Don't panic until you know how much the tests will be. Might not be a fortune, you never know. Get the info before you jump to conclusions.

agree, i know preg scan is $130 without subs and my OH had scan for $140, so should somewhere near that for liver scan.

mircoalbumina test is just test by machine in the labortory, depend on how much they charge for test

ECG - don't about that as very quick test (you need to sit and relax during this!!)

Go to your GP lee, you might be able to get the "pee" test free via a referral to diagnostic medlab... and get your GP to give you a result copy?

Cant help with the other two, but yay to no needles this time, that makes it a bit more bearable.

Seeing as your employer is sorting out all the legal stuff for you, would he be willing to do a salary advance for the medical tests?

We did once have a virtual whip-round for Lee, but he never needed the money in the end.

He can't be allowed to leave.

Even in my current financial state of non-workingness I'm happy to contribute to a new whip-round if it comes to it.

The Keep Lee In NZ fund (KLINZ) starts here. I'm in for a $10 starter contribution to KLINZ. Would be more, but as stated.......

Hi Lee,

So sorry to hear of your ongoing woes :uhoh ! From someone who's been there and done that (difficult medical process and a waiver at looooong last), don't let them get you down, keep the faith and your NZ dream alive !

To put my money where my mouth is, I'll chuck in $ 30 as well if it'll help, just let me know where to send it. Remember, you're not alone in this and we won't let you go without a fight :yes !!

Cheers,

No-No-No....

And i mean that in the nicest possible way! I know you all great friends and wanting to do everything to help and God knows i get emotional at the kindness and caring of you all. But please its right embarrassing to see people offering you money on a public forum! I got a little bit of stubborn pride left :(
By all means offer me millions in private! LOL But please not where the whole world / friends / family can see how bad things have got (some people back home still think its all rosy out here for me!)

Hope you understand, i am SO NOT ungrateful, in fact i am again overwhelmed with the care and support of you all, I cant thank you enough. But damn its embarrassing! ;)

Yup i been feeling pretty low this past few days, and on top of that i been tucked up in bed with killer migraine so hence staring at a bright monitor wasn't a good plan. As to me and my thoughts? No idea yet, Doctor says extra work be about $350 and he says it WILL involve a second blood test? Work that out? Boss just said "well if its got to be done so be it" GGRR and the immigration lawyers... well there still waiting for my "immediate" results back! Doh

I just chilling for another day or two, i start worrying about it at the weekend! Lee mentality = Head-in-sand :(

And sorry but NO my avatars staying right now, its a mood thing

Thanks all, now stop embarrassing me in public ;) (pretty please with cherries)

I will NOT be getting my big banana out ladies!
Its been bubble-wrapped for safe storage, it wont be out for a while..

I am feeling a little less annoyed and fed-up than i was (hence the 1/2 way stage on my avatar), and thankfully i been so busy the past 2-3 days i havent had time to think of much else!

Going to see the Doc for referrals Tuesday, then i suppose its booking more damn tests! If the results of those dont keep the damn Medical Assessors or Immigration happy then HELLO LONDON...... Maybe it'll be good to be back, i dont know....

Lee, as you won't take my money I've written you a poem.

The Happy Avatar In Waiting

When Lee was down
He wore a frown
It started to spread around

Friends surround
Look up, look down
Collecting cents and pounds

Lee declined
His pride refined
He won’t be dined or wined

Now more tests
He hates those pests
But onwards, upwards, yes

The end is close
Just another dose
Of testing, more verbose

Perseverance, Lee
That is the key
You’re the man, they’ll see

Supporters you win
Through thick and thin
Just don’t give up or in

No don’t give in
Please don’t give in
We know they’ll let you in

Then the avatar
That warms from afar
Will be back to stay – Hoorah!

:nice1

Hey everyone, what does happen if someone (eg. Mr Perseverance- Leccy Lee) is told by NZIS Medical Accessors that he cannot stay here in NZ & has to leave by a certain date, but the person cannot afford to buy a flight home? I mean seriously what is NZIS' official policy on that?

I hope Lee can stay here in NZ, but if the off chance NZIS asks him to leave (and Lee cannot afford a flight to London), then how do they ever expect him to leave NZ? What would let him build raft like Tom Hanks did in "CastAway" so he can leave on his own power? Or maybe NZIS would want proof he has no money to buy a flight and then have a slush $ fund for things like this? This seems like a sad case of Catch 22. :no

Question for Lee- I am sure you've already been down this route but I have to ask... Did you ask your family for any financial help in the form of a loan or simple grant yet? My offer for a pick-me-up beer still stands (also since you won't accept money). Let me know.. PM me if you are keen, but I suspect you have more important things on your mind than pint-sized beer at some bar in the Welly CBD...

Good luck on Tuesday!
John

Leccy-Lee
6th July 2008, 01:54 PM
John, theres no family as such to ask! Else i wouldn't have come to NZ with just pennies in my pocket. I was living on my own at 17. ;) Hence i dont suffer homesickness out here... :o

Regards the "scenario", firstly i been told even by NZIS that "if" your every asked to leave it can take a year or two before they even chase you out unless you are a threat or a terrorist, so there wouldn't be any rush! Also "if" the medical assessment goes bad, then theres my lawyers and an appeal. Appeals can be known to take again 18mths to two years (usually with temp permits) . And as my Immigration Lawyers are the biggest and oldest such firm in NZ they assure me that "we dont take on clients that we cant get PR, its not good business".

As to the beer John, i pretty much tied up 24/7 for next few weeks (see my post about show in town)

Sam (BBB) thats an awesome poem my friend, thankyou. And i never declined anyones cash, just the public outpouring is a tad embarrassing.... ;)

Well i done the lab test, and just back from the Ultrasound (aching sides now!) and got the ECG tonight.

Ultrasounds a little of a worry, she did say that there was nothing obviously abnormal BUT that some bodies are better for scans than others, and that she couldn't get any details from my scan at all and that her report would recommend a CT Scan instead for Liver detail! ARGGHHH thats a 4-figure price tag...!

So heres hoping the lovely NZIS Medical Assessor is maybe satisfied with a poor ultrasound and doesn't opt for getting a CT too. Else thats me out of here...

So thats the extra tests done for now (until Mr.MA decides his next list) and a pile of invoices to pay now! :no

Just wait for the results and the Doctors prognosis i suppose. /Sigh
