In our increasinglt desperate attempt to find an easy way(hah!) to get to NZ, I'm considering studying in NZ (I was going to go back to school anyway.)
The question is, can my family join me on a student visa? I think I know the answer (No!, of course but I can't find any clear info on the NZIS site).
What if my wife also got a student visa-could we bring our two small daughters? Also, does NZ issue student visas for part-time study?
TIA
Dave

Thanks Moorf. I actually had already read this however they don't address the companion issue anywhere. I think it's probably safe to assume that my wife and kids couldn't come along for a four year program, but I'll have to call them to find out for sure.
Thanks again, and good luck on your upcoming adventure!

Hi Dave
If you are on a student visa , your partner and children will need visitor visas. Once the children are in NZ and enrolled in school, you will need to convert their visit visas to student visas as well.
Your partner is also eligible for a a guardian visa if the children are under 16 years of age.
Hope this was helpful

Kamus,
Althought the NZIS web site is not very clear, if you are on a student visa your wife and children can come in on a student visa as well (though you would not know it from the student visa application). I thoroughly checked this out because we considered the same thing when residency seemed impossible. And on a student visa, your wife could work up to 15 hours per week.
Good luck!
Melissa
