Many NZ job adverts say 'Scale A teacher'.

What does this mean?

Ordinary bog standard teacher I think. No increment for added responsibility, subject wise or management wise.

Scale A is an entry-level teaching position IIRC. Check out the Ministry of Education website or teachnz.govt.nz, there should be more info there.
