Hooray,

After arriving here in Christchurch just over 2 months ago on a 1 year work visa, (the BUNAC one), I lodged my EOI for PR last week, just checked the NZIS website to see that I was selected today. :yes

Good luck to anyone else awaiting selection from today's draw.

Congrats djchicane and Walshy....welcome to the next level!! Great feeling isn't it!? I'm afraid it's a waiting game for the moment whilst they check over your EOI, verifying your points. It took a couple of weeks before we found out that we had been successful. We received our ITA the day after it changed to 'decision successful'.

Good luck and try not to hit the refresh button too much, don't want to have to declare a repetetive strain injury at your medical...lol

xxSo will they be contacting the prospective employer now?

Should i get police checks and medicals under way?

I'm not sure how in depth the preliminary checks are in so far as I don't know if they 'physically' check details with potential employers etc....sorry!

I'd apply for your police check docs as they can take a while to come through. They suggest that it will be no longer than 40 days from receipt of request. They are valid also for 6 months and are relatively cheap to get hold of!

I'd hold off on the medicals until you know you've been successful. These are only valid for 3 months, I believe and they're NOT cheap....don't want to be forking out for those again!

Hope this helps?

Sue n KevDoes indeed, thanks very much, will do that.

A migration consultant that we were going to employ until we heard her fees emailed us today and asked how we were getting on, we told her we had a job offer, she is concerned that my wife may get turnt down as the job is 60k ote but only 30k base salary with the rest commision(recruitment consultant), im worried now, she said we would have a much better chance at 40k base salary. EOI has been picked but obviously they have no idea what the slary is yet.

Im wondering now should we ask the employers to up the base salary just for the purpose of the application or whether this is completely unethical and if we would get in trouble.

Always problems.:(
