Working in ultrasound in NZ?

As noted in my introduction (http://www.emigratenz.org/forum/showthread.php?t=19124), I'm hoping to find work in NZ as a cardiac ultrasound tech. Although I haven't yet come across anyone exactly in my field on the forums yet, I have noticed several nurses who are already in country.

So I was wondering if any of you would be so kind to help me get in touch with one of the cardiac sonographers (echocardiographers) at your hospital. Of course, it would be especially helpful if they happen to be immigrants from the U.S., but that might be asking too much.

Your help will be very much appreciated.

Also, I believe this counts as my fifth post, so I guess I can finally start PM'ing. Woo-hoo!

Cheers,

Hi Brian

I'm currently working as a cardiac sonographer in Hastings hospital and living in Napier (sunny hawkes bay)!

I trained in the UK and had my qualifications assessed by the NZQA - this can be done 'informally' online for a small fee or if you require a formal certified assessment this can be done for a larger fee! The whole visa process involves numerous fee's that come out of the woodwork as ypu will find out. Registration with the NZ cardiac society is still not mandatory but will be required in the future.

There are more jobs than applicants so employment should not be a problem - currently vacancies in Wellington and Waikato that I know of also a job that has been advertised in the past at Nelson

Any questions - I'll try and help Neil
