Hi,

I have just been looking through the 'Tips for lodging a skilled migrant applications'

and I am really confused.

I have been selected by claiming points on my EOI for experience in an area
of absolute skills shortage.

I have my city and guilds 706/1 and 706/2 catering qualifications of which I gained whilst in the RAF and subsequently have over 10 years experience.

These qualifications are on the list of recognised qualifications.

However, the form states:

"If you are claiming points for a City and Guilds qualification you must include evidence of Part One, Part Two and your apprenticeship which must be completed with a recognized industry body. If you do not have these three items you will need to have an assessment of your qualifications completed by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority - www.nzqa.govt.nz - prior to lodging your application.

If you do not have an offer of Skilled Employment and you are claiming Bonus points for a qualification or work experience in an area of absolute skill shortage (LTSSL) you will need to provide a full NZQA assessment of your qualification."

My query is - is the RAF a recognized industry body? my career was not really an apprenticeship!

so do I have to have my qualifications assessed by NZQA?

I do not have a job offer so again do I need to have my quals assessed? (para 2 above)

OR

as I do not have my ITA yet when I receive it will they tell me what they want?

I am just mindfull that assessment of quals can take a while.

Sorry this is so long but could anyone guide me in the right direction

Many thanks in advance

Niki

Can't help you with your ITA questions, but welcome to the forum.

Hi there,

Your ITA should outline exactly what documents you need to provide in order to submit the application. If full NZQA assessment is required they should specify that. Although qualifications that are on the recognised list are usually exempt from this...

Sorry I can't help with your specific q's (i.e. is RAF a recognised body) so it may be worth your while getting in touch with immigration directly on that one?

Good Luck and welcome! :yes

:yes what sasvanb said - your CO should inform you about what specific documents you will need to provide when your ITA is returned to you. If they have any questions on the validity of your points claim before that point they will also probably get in touch asking for more information - whatever it is with reference to.
