Had my medicals last week, and In going prepared I took letters from my consultant regarding an operation I had recently had for an ovarian cyst. I had another one two years ago in an emergency op so thats both sides. I still have one one side so it could in theory hapen again.

My problem is on one of the letters the doctor made a few comments which translated to "this is pretty serious and may need further treatment".

So im now fully expecting my Visa to be heavily delayed....is it likely? Is there anything I can do to speed it up as I am supposed to start my new job end of July with any luck!

mmmmmmmm.... sounds like you need to think about your health and approach the doctor to see what further investigations need to be done. I know you are anxious about the job, but surely he would not have said there could be a serious problem if he did not think so? My copncern is why did you only discover the problem now? What if you had never asked for the letter??? Best you get your mind at ease first.....
Best of luck.

Hi, Problem is basicaly endometriosis. Its never caused me a problem though, the first i heard of it was when docs found a cyst in routine exam and i went for further tests, decided to go private as was cheaper and get it whipped out before we cancelled our private healthcare. In the process of the keyhole the doc said he thought i ahd endometriosis etc. And has reflected this in his letter - however now it shouldnt cause me any issues.

I think the thing is its the wording he has chosen rather than the condition itself, ive since spoken to him and he has said "yes now ive seen you three months later i know your fine!!!

Im getting him to put that in writing and will send back with medical certs - is there anythingelse i can do?

Ok - that sounds reassuraing. I am sure you will be fine with his second letter. I doubt they would turn you down for enometriosis anyhow. Good luck. Hope all goes well.

what you will need to get him to say specifically is a prognosis, just a statement of current condition may not be enough - just been through all this with the medical assesors myself (different medical condition, but the basic statement applies)

Hi there - I know this is a different condition but I have a friend here who has polycystic ovaries- she has Permanent Residence and didn't have a problem with her medical - she hasn't needed surgery but I suppose the potential is there for her to need it in the future. Your doctor writing the new letter for you has got to be a big help -as dusk says try to get him to include how it might affect you in the future (hopefully he'll say not a lot!) They are really looking to make sure you wont be an expensive drain on the NZ healthcare system! Good luck. :-)
