... work knows what you're up to?
I'm hoping they haven't got a clue about NZ, however I've been asked some very strange questions recently from work colleagues... too coincidental for my liking
Must remember to delete 'History' on my work PC before heading off for the weekend :D

Heh, I know that one. My company is only small and me leaving will have a big effect. I find it the worst when having a conversation with my boss about something or other, interest rates for example, and I can come out with a statistic or a "in nz..." quote. Ops!

Yes be very nice to the IT guys... they can access your emails too, so watch out for that one!
I ended up telling my boss a couple of weeks ago that I'd be going eventually, cos we were putting the house on the market, and I live in a small town area (everyone knows everyone else's business!)... but I must say he was very good about it all. And it's much nicer it's out in the open now... I can get excited about stuff and everyone at work gets excited with me!! :cheers:clap

I know just what you mean. Someone I work with is in NZ now on hols. Before she went she was telling me where she was going. I had to keep saying things like 'Christchurch, really, which island is that on then?' Then she was telling me that it would be cold and she didn't think the heating was very good in buildings etc etc. It was so difficult not to say 'I read on the forum last night that not many houses have double glazing or central heating etc etc..............'
Think it might be worse when she gets back because I'll want to know everything about everthing :D

I had to tell a boss because I needed them to certify a certificate and I asked them to keep it to themselves as it was a long term plan and I didnt know when it would actually happen. My contract with that workplace ended and a former colleague asked me when I was going to NZ!
In order to get Uni transcripts and proof of work experience I've had to tell all sorts of people and it all started to feel like 6 degrees of separation.

its a bit like having an affair I guess (not that I ever have!) as we have to keep remembering who knows who and who knows what!

well i work in a florist with two other people and none of them know, or at least they didnt, this week i have had to stay off work cos the little ones got chicken pox, and to cut a long story short one of the mums from school has been in to the shop to order some funeral flowers, i know this because my boss phoned me to tell me ( which is strange ) so i now think that the mum may have mentioned something, i guess i will just have to see what sort of feeling i get when i return to work, the bad thing is i was going to tell them this week any way as we fly on 12 august.

... reckon I'll have to limit my time spent on the forum, boss man came up to me yesterday and asked if I'd completed a certain drawing... felt like saying, "no, I'm just catching up on a few forum posts if you don't mind" ;) :D
Flippin addictive this forum malarkey :D

Dusk and I both work for the same company, so they'll be losing both of us. But we were up front about it - as soon as we got the offer, we told them we would be leaving (we did not resign, we just told them of our plans). It's given them the time to adjust to the idea and plan for the future, and have a decent hand-over period. I think it generated a certain amount of goodwill (possibly offset by the number of people who want us to ask around on their behalf :) ).
