Somebody has told me that there is a salary threshold for gaining PR?

I know that there is one if you are on a work to residence visa but didn't think that there was one for getting PR under the skilled migrant route, is there one!!?? :uhoh

I can well imagine that there might be a salary threshold if you are claiming points for a job offer. I can not recall the details, but I think I saw something like it somewhere on the NZIS website.

the only threshold i remember reading about is when applying for a Talent work visa and that was 50k.

If you’re applying for PR with a job offer its contract must stipulate, a minimum of 30 hours a week at (full time) minimum wage or more.
If you are not utilizing a job offer there is obviously no minimum, as you are not required to take-up employment at all, if you don’t want to/need to.

Just increased, or about to, - 55K :(

Here's the link about the increase - effective 28/07/08

Obviously you can gain PR without a job offer so this minimum only seems to apply to Talent visas with an accredited employer

There is also a salary threshhold if your occupation is under part C of the skilled list...$45 000

"the occupation is included in part C of the List of Skilled Occupations held at Appendix 11 and the principal
applicant* can demonstrate that their offer of employment or current employment substantially matches the
description for that occupation (including core tasks) as set out in the ANZSCO and has either:
i at least three years of relevant recognised work experience and a relevant recognised qualification which is
at, or above, level four on the Register (see SM14.5) (a qualification at level four on the Register must be a
National Certificate); or
ii at least three years of relevant recognised work experience and that current employment or the position in
which the employment is offered, has an annual base salary of at least NZ$45,000."

Taken from section SM7.10.1 - Assessment of whether employment is skilled

Hmm, my wifes job offer that we have done an eoi on is $30k plus 20% commision with ote of $70k as a senior recruitment consultant, we were told there was no real threshold and her role was in section A of the skill set so we should be ok.

This has me concerned now

If you wife's role is under Part A then no need to worry...the threshold is only for occupations listed in Part C and that are reliant on work experience rather than qualifications.

As I'm on appendix 11 part C of the skilled occupations list, I'll need job offer (got) and 3+ years work experience (got) a salary of $45k or more (I haven't got that much with my job) or and a level 4 qualification (waiting to be assessed).

So I could go and start my new job now on a work visa or wait to see if I get the neccesary points for my qualifications so that I could go straight to PR route.

Does that sound correct? I'm pretty sure it is.
