Hihi

I'm little overwhelm, I was hoping someone could point too posts or the right direction on getting started so I can move to NZ. I'm a Preschool Teacher, so I thought I would go that route(work visa). I just came back from NZ in May. I know where I want to live etc. I can't wait to get the ball rolling :)

Thank you

warmly,
Jill

Hi there. Go to the New Zealand Immigration website. You will need to check if your qualification needs to be assessed by the NZ Education Board. You also need to check how many points you will get and if you need a job offer as this helps with acceptance.

You submit and EOI - expression of interest once you have over 100 points and wait to see if you are given an invitation to apply. If you get the ITA then you have to prove everything you put in the EOI. You also have a medical, chest xray and police clearance.

Then I understand you get accepted and once you pay the immigration levy, you get the stickers to be on your way.

Sounds so simple..... and it is... Just needs you to READ the instructions carefully and make sure you get all the paperwork in order.

Good luck. Where are you planning to settle??

Hi Jill
welcome to the forum

you will need to get your qualifications assessed as advised by Roper and you will also need to be registered by the NZ Teaching Council. You will not get a job unless you are registered.

There have been other threads about pre school teachers. In NZ there are referred to as Early Childhood Educators and NZ are fussy what training and qualifications they will accept. Look into this carefully as there have been pre school teachers from outside NZ who have been unable to get registered.

good luck with it all
