Hi All,

While waiting for the ITA, I've started to look for a job offer in the IT industry. Most of the time the employers are not willing to wait till the applicants finish their PR process under skilled migration.

Therefore If I get a job offer before PR, I think the best way is to relocate to NZ with a Temporary Work Visa. Is this a way usually followed by the migrants with job offers? Should I stay in my home country at the time of granting PR?

I would love to know your opinion about this. :yes

Thanks in advance.

Hi Beetle,
welcome to the forum. Getting a temp work visa is certainly a viable proposition if you can get a job offer where you need to start before your ITA is processed

think that you need to look into whether you can be granted a work visa whilst you have an current application for PR.

Work visas are for temp work so you can apply for PR after work visa has been granted but not the otherway around???

am sure that someone has posted that they submitted PR but put a hold on it whilst they got vias and job to get/stay in NZ then re submitted PR this time with job.

am sure that someone who knows for sure will pop along to confirm or deny what Ive written :)

hope that it all works out for you

Hi Beetle,

This is exactly what we had to do, not by choice but dictated by circumstances. When we applied for the PR Ben's work start date seemed far off (ITA lodged 25/2, starting date 12/5). However, as the weeks went by it became obvious that we may not receive the PR on time. We were then advised by our case officer to apply for a temp work visa (a 3-years one in our case) to enable us to catch our flight and get on with our plans. We have been in Wellington for 2 months now, I have found and started work too (on a similar 3-years work visa) and the PR process is still ongoing. We expect that at some stage the email with 'approved in principle' will arrive. So based on our own experience, going on a work visa while the PR process is running in parallel is quite normal.

Cheers

Hila

Good luck whatever you decide.

Hi Beetle

I've done something similar. I'm not convinced that my PR will be done by the time I need to leave. So, after talking to NZIS in NZ and the Canada branch, both have confirmed that I can go ahead and apply for my WTR visa in the meantime. And in the meantime, my PR application will just continue along at a snail's pace. Hopefully the WTR visa comes through quickly and I can continue along with my plans.

Good luck with everything!
:)

Hi,

My ultimate aim is to get the NZ PR, currently I just got the job offer. Can some one advice me whether I should go for work visa or WTR? What is the different of this two visa?

Thanks

adelyn
