Hi - I have been reading the forum for a while and gleaned loads of useful info so thanks everyone :clap
We have been in Christchurch for 2 weeks now and must say that it has been bloomin' hard work - so much stuff to sort out and with 2 kids in tow it has been a bit stressful at times living in a very small space.
We have moved from West Sussex and I think quite a few posters on here are from there. Nice part of the UK IMHO but we are up for a new adventure here in beautiful NZ.
I think we are finally starting to get somewhere and have sorted out a school, rental and car. In the next few weeks hopefully we will get to meet some new friends and start to enjoy our new home and do a bit of exploring.
Cheers all :)

Hello and good luck. I hope everything works out for you.

We're not long back from our recce visit and can't wait to leave again.

Tonight we're going to chat to an immigration consultant to see if we're going to go down that route or do it ourselves:)

Well done on finally getting there. We arrive in september so would be interested in your views of the first few weeks - good, bad & indifferent. Hopefully we will meet you at the 28th September meet.

Hi Carrot Cake & welcome!
Know what you are going thru (except the kids part) since we are in Chc just over 2 weeks now. And the weather is definitely not helping ;)
It seems to get better once you start finding your way around town. Bus service is great compared to home!

Hi Carrot Cake, welcome from us. We flew in just over two weeks ago too, where have you settled? I haven't risked a bus here yet, although I did catch 'the flyer' in Wellington. :exit That was an emotional experience :laugh

Good luck with settling in, it's not easy with the snow and the cold is it? But it's worth every log on the fire :yes

Welcome Carrot Cake! We moved to Christchurch a couple of months ago, there is a lot to do at first but it does get easier. Glad I'm not the only one to arrive in winter!:laugh

Good luck with it all!

Thanks for the welcomes! I haven't been brave enough to get a bus yet - I nearly got the free red bus that is bright yellow the other day but I wimped out because of the weather. It has been freezing here perhaps not the best time of year to arrive but as the Kiwis would say - it can only get better!!!:clap

Unfortunately you have arrived at possibly THE coldest part of the year!! And it's a cold one this year with snow to sea level recently which is very unusual!!

Ahh, but you'll be so amazed when that sun pops out ... :nice1
