After months of painful work and effort and all kinds of stuff, today, after getting the first email contact from a Case Officer in May, our EOI has been declined and gone back to the pool.

Ive already resigned, ready to move, now the 'fun' starts .....

Dont expect NZIS to think logically. They clearly do not understand all businesses and have dug holes in my job offer and basically just rejected it, even with credible business plans, financial commitments etc.

The problem, according to them, is the sustainablility of the job. They indicate, but cannot confirm, that they believe a work permit may or may not be an option due to the sustainability.

It has been suggested that we can try and apply for a 1 or 2 year visa and perhaps the work permit people will consider this, but for PR, they reckon (in their wisdom - NOT!) that my job offer is not sustainable for a permanet arrangement.

:( Have you decided what to try next, Chaz?

My guys in NZ have made an appointment to go see a 'specialist' tomorrow who deals in immigration. I think he is an ex minister for immigration or something.

The problem clearly is that we do not know how to show that this is sustainable. We have shown access to funds, a credible business plan etc.

We even have the backing of a certain minister at the moment that is very pro this as part of my work helps in certain 'areas' that assist in some issues that form part of a countries' ability to be competitive and relates to infrastructure and services.

Ironically I was quoted in the Sunday papers this weekend, discussing what I do best and further to that, spent two hours advising one of the senior advisors of our local minister in my current country of employ where I, through my company, assist with certain elements that are considered core.

Dont mean to be vague, just dont want to put my foot into it, so to speak, nor ruin any chance of perhaps pulling this off, pending who reads this forum.

Oh Chaz that totally sucks,:no
My heart goes out to you, as you know, I was in exactly the same predicament in early February.

There they are with a skills shortage and here you are with the skills, experience and qualifications wanting to help alleviate their problem, and do the pencil pushing, fee charging bureaucrats help and assist you…
Ok I better stop there, suffice to say this has hit a nerve and I know how you feel mate and it’s not good.

I’m afraid to say that I found that the issue of the alleged lack of sustainability of the job offer meant that even a work permit was out of the question.

Don’t give up, at times like this I know it’s very difficult to see things in prospective, it’s only another setback.

Best wishes:nice1

I'm sure there will be a way to convince them. You sound like a person who won't give up on things. Good luck.

He doesn't want to say precisely, so's not to upset anything that just MIGHT work out - see his post on the previous page of this thread.
