Hi just waiting for our ITA to come through. We are not planning on moving to NZ until summer 09 - can somebody please confirm the time allowed to submit ITA ater receiving it and the validity of your visa once all the ITA is completed????

Cheers
Lisa

You have 4 months to submit your ITA from the date it is issued and I think a further 12 months to activate your visas once approved. There may be a several month gap between submitting your ITA and getting approved as well. Summer 09 should be fine.

If memory serves me correctly you have 4mths to get your completed ITA back to INZ (send only a certified copy of your passport at this stage to gain time). Then they have to process it. Assuming you are successful in gaining PR I seem to remember you then have 6mths to pay the migrant levy and get the blue stickers put in your passport (send your passports when you're ready). You then have 12mths to get to NZ to activate it so in theory you've got around 22mths after receipt of ITA.

Now this is all from hazy memory and I'm sure somebody will come along soon to correct this if I'm wrong but I reckon with the date you're aiming for you'll be fine.

Mgbridges, you are correct. 4 months for ITA. Once ITA is approved, 6 months to apply for visa and then another 12 months to activate the visa. It adds upto 22 months. In case of WTR, ITA time remains the same but 3 months to apply for visa and 3 months to activate it.. so it goes 10 months. I have not counted the processing time which could vary case to case.

yes, that's right about the WTR, which i just got recently. And since i'm not planning to move to nz until mid of 2009, i'm having a time delay problem at the moment. :(

btw, there are chances that you would be allowed to submit the ITA after 4 months. Example of such cases are when NZQA eval hasn't come yet, or police clearance is taking too long than expected. you will be negotiating this with the NZ Immi EOI (or ITA?) officer.
