Both filed our IR3's tax returns for the first time (done online).
We'd been here since June so this was a partial year and one of us owes money and one is owed it (according to my sums).
Anyway because it was a partial year the computer said it couldn't do the sums online but to carry on with the process.
So what happens now.
Do we just wait? If so, how long for?
I think payments have to be made by Oct/November'ish.

If you have to make payments then they have to be paid next February (7th) for the last tax year. If you owe more than $2500 then you will also have to start paying provisional tax for this year, first installment 28th August.
You should be sent all details required e.g. how much to be paid on which dates etc.
Not had them owe me yet, so can't confirm what they do here, but would expect them to just credit the refund to the specified account once they have checked your form and then send you a statement of how much was refunded etc.

Update : One of us received a small refund into our bank a/c yesterday, and the $19 that I owed has been "written off" because its too small - huragh, Mr Darling wouldn't do that.:clap
