So who has the quickest turnaround from eoi 'selected' to 'approved'?

What is the avearge?

We were only selected last week and im going mental refreshing nzis wbsite to see if we are approved, if this goes on for months I wont survive.

Are they now contacting previous employers to prove experience, or current employer, are they contacting the employer in nz?

Waiting is the worst part - this process feels like it's been going on forever already!!

I'm not sure what the average time for selection-approval is, but for us it was EOI submitted 09/10/07, EOI selected 10/10/07, confirmation of ITA being issued 06/11/08, so it was about 4 weeks. During that time we had a couple of emails checking up on details to do with points claimed for qualifications and work experience so that's probably what they're doing right now with yours.

Good luck :)

Nope, no job offer! Just 135 points based on hubby's qualifications/work experience in an area of absolute skills shortage. We figured he could look for work after we'd submitted the ITA but he still hasn't got round to it yet!!

It probably helped that after we had the first email asking for information I kept harassing the poor guy at the other end - he was probably desperate to get rid of us!

Hi Walshy,

Totally understand the sentiment (been there, done that ;) !), but seriously, there are those that have the experience of being shunted to the 'bottom of the pile' for bothering INZ too much. Apparently it can be very counterproductive :laugh !

I wish you the best of luck (and much Zen patience :p !) and hope the turnaround will be unusually quick for you !

Cheers,
Silver

PS From EOI to 'Decision Successful' also took about four to five weeks for us, albeit back in 2005. For us the process after submitting the ITA took far longer due to medical issues :(. It required a great deal of patience, and provided much frustration, on our part, but happily we got there in the end !

For us, EOI was submitted on 18/2/07, selected 28/2/07 and ITA was issued on 2nd March'07

EOI was selected on the first week it went in, but had to wait 8 weeks for the ITA to come through from the UK dept.

I think it's dependant on a job offer as to the reduction of EOI to ITA.. from my experience, most people without a job offer take around 2 months to get from EOI selected to ITA. See my timeline below and good luck being patient! ;)

Ours was about 2weeks from selection to successful...see signature. Got our ITA the next day.

Good luck....and don't wear out your refresh button...lol

Looks like the average wait time if you do not have a job offer is about two months. But in some cases even longer. I'm also in the waiting game and on 21 July I reach the two month waiting milestone!

What I'm very curious to know is whether it is good news or bad news if you hear nothing from the UK office while waiting for the EOI decision. Apart from a letter in the mail that our EOI was selected on 21 May, we had no other contact from NZIS. I've read here of people who gets emails asking questions and stuff. Should I be getting worried that they are not asking me anything or should I take it as good sign that they see no problems? I also wonder in cases where EOI gets selected and then end up NOT succesfull, how long does it normally take in those case before people get first contact from NZIS?

Still waiting over here.
EOI selected on May 21 with a job offer and 190 points. I've heard nothing from them yet and I'm almost convinced they've lost my application. :wah

It was about 2 weeks for us, but we're both already working on WTR visas. I got a call from the case officer 2 weeks after my EOI went in, that day it changed to Decision Successful, and 2 days later my ITA bundle was at my front door. That was a few days ago, and this week-end I'm going to attempt to wade through it!

Hi Walshy

It is difficult being patient is'nt it :)

Well, as already stated, currently the time from Selected to Decision Succesfull is around 2 months without a job offer (London branch) . Those with a job offer get priority. You can see our timeline in the signature.

It is probably counterproductive to bug them at this stage, since you don't even know your case officer (if any), unless you have been contacted. This changes with the ITA, where you get the name of your case officer.

In reply to Beater: We did'nt hear a single thing before the status on the website changed to Decision Succesfull and we received the ITA documents 5 days later. In this case I think that no news is good news. I think that you will only be contacted if the case officer needs further information (not necessarily good).

Use the waiting time to get those pesky letters of reference from your previous employers and get started on NZQA, if you need to go through that (usually the case, if you used a pre-assessment to get points).

Good luck everyone.

/Niels

I'm currently waiting for the ITA, been working in Wellington since May, love it here so definitely want to stay, I'm on a 3 year work visa but thought I'd get the application in asap, EOI with 195 points on 17/6, selected 18/6 and now just playing the waiting game! Hopefully not too much longer. Good luck all :)

Tell me about it! Going a little stir crazy over here. Not quite sure what to do about it except wait it out the official 12 weeks that I was told by NZIS.

I was already in NZ on a work permit. Here's my timeline:

5 Nov 07 Submit EOI
8 Nov 07 EOI Selected
23 Nov 07 ITA Received
18 Dec 07 ITA Docs submitted to NZIS
18 Apr 08 PR granted in principle (after submitting character waiver for hubby which took one week)

Total: 5 months 13 days, with 210 points and a permanent job with an accredited employer. Knock off one month for the summer break and it takes it to 4 1/2 months start to finish.

Seems like I wrote that just too soon. On the same day I wrote that I received an email from the Londen office asking me to send them some additional info. I just hope it is good news. But at least I know something is happening! :yes
