Hi everyone
I've just seen that the long term skills shortage list has been amended and my occupation has been removed from the list.
I've already submitted my EOI claiming points for this occupation AND my EOI has been selected.
Does the change in the list have any affect on me or will it influence their decision on whether or not to offer me an ITA.
Thanks

Hiya,
from what I remember is it the Environmental Sciences that you are claiming for on the LTSSL? If so, you had us really worried then as we are claiming for the same thing (:uhoh:uhoh), but have just checked the site and it is still there about 4/5 pages on in the professional Occupations section...Pheewwww!
If it wasn't the Environmental Sciences, what profession was it? Could you give INZ a call to query the removal as we were told it was very rare that a skill be removed off the LTSSL.

Hi there
I noticed a section under 'Latest News' which was a new document stating changes to the Long Term & Immediate Skills Shortage List effective from
28th July (so the changes haven't taken place yet).
It listed Environmental Research Scientist but there was no sign of an Environmental Scientist (which had previously been on the list). My OH is an Environmental Scientist and doesn't do any research so would probably not qualify under the Environmental Research Scientist occupation as he doesn't do/nor has he ever done any research.
I just wondered if, seen as our EOI has already been selected with us claiming Environmental Science as an occupation if they would chuck us out if we hadn't received ITA by 28th July (which is not likely with current timeframes)

Oh, I didn't see that! Just been on and had a look and I would say that you should be ok. Having submitted your EOI prior to changes you may be able to argue your case if the result comes back that he can't claim for the points due to the amendments. After all, they still want someone with an Environmental studies degree, which he has. Did he do any modules as part of his course that would count as research that you could include as evidence if you're still worried? I think it would only go against you if were claiming bonus points for the work experience and not then be able to prove it was "research"!
Thankfully we will still be ok as OH has experience in research
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you,
Jules

yeah, you're probably right (gosh this immigration thing does make one panic so doesn't it!!!)
The degree it asks for is the same as you say, Environmental Studies, so technically he should still qualify even if he isn't really a researcher!
Thanks for your help.
