As it turned out, I have to apply for work to residency and one of the requirements is a proof of financial capability.
From nz immi site, it should be $1000 per person per month. so $3000 for my first three months hunting for a job.
http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/stream/work/skilledmigrant/accepted/default.htm
i'm not certain for my case because the email invitation did not state how much should i have. do you know if it's enough to put in $3000 NZD? or would they grant the WTR permit if i have more than that? is there any rule on this? or probably anyone who has experience applying for a residency (skilled migrant) and then ended up with a WTR invite.
thanks.

i've also read somewhere in NZIS website that as a minimum you need to have $1000 per month for 3 months. Perhaps, to be in the safe side try to add extra $1000. By the way, what happened to your appeal to NZIS about delaying your WTR as it conflict with your current contract?

hi benrus: 'will probably do that. so have to save a bit more money. i haven't heard anything from them since informing me about the WTR invitation (which was last june 20). i replied their email twice. i was thinking of calling nz immi beijing about this.
if they can't extend it, i'll then plead my current company to release me. :(
too bad, it all gets tricky in the end.

hi,
i am also sailing in the same boat and too much confused what to do. if anyone give an idea, it iwll be more useful. i have applied for PR, but ended with WTR. it is mentioned in my app form that i need sufficient fund atleast NZ 1000 per month for initial 3 months. but my cosultant asked me to show more than NZ 10000 and separate nz 3000 for outward ticket. if i show less than this , will it affect my application for WTR? also , i have only 2 months remaining to apply for WTR and i have to show ticket reservation. but i am working in gulf , how can i send my passport to imm dept. i felt difficult to deal this situation. i cannot resign my job immediately. any suggestion will be appreciated greatly. thanks in advance.

Hi Kamal,
I have submitted my ITA with 110 points and no job offer. I am still waiting to hear from NZIS. I have been closely following the posts of Yossairn and you. As far as i know the embassy of New Zealand is in Riyadh and i think you can submit it there for getting the WTR. I am also in Gulf and lets see if we can meet and exchange more info.

hi kamal and friend. it seems we're a bit in fairly similar situation. i still haven't received any response from nz immigration regarding my request to extend WTR offer. 'will probably call then next week.
also, i was not informed that i need to produce a copy of reservation ticket heading nz. the only papers i need to provide are: statement of financial capability (ie., $1000.00 NZ per month per person), some additional forms, and original passport. did they tell you reservation ticket is necessary?
and i'm not sure if i can provide liqud asset total of $10,000.00 NZ if that's true... :(
@friend: i hope you get residency straight ahead, and skip the hassle of processing wtr.

well, i didn't know we need to show them ticket going into nz. my case officer told me to just provide evidence of financial capability, and proof of enough funds to get a ticket outward nz. nowhere was it indicated that i need a ticket or tentative itinerary going into nz.
did they tell you that?

my consultant has informed me and u can see in ur WTR application mentioned that, we need to show travel arrangement to nz .ie. means our approximate date of travelling to nz. can we book a ticket without paying, just booking ..later on we can change the date of travel coz we don't know when we will be travelling.. whats ur opinion

these are the things i need to submit for WTR:
- A completed Work to Residence application (Please print the application form attached and post the completed application form to our office;
- A completed “Additional Details From” (Please print the form attached and post the completed form to our office);
- Evidence of sufficient funds for the maintenance and accommodation of you for a period of at least three months in New Zealand, AND for the purchase of an outward ticket from New Zealand for yourself;
- Courier fees (if you wish your documents to be returned by courier) of US$25 which must be paid by way of money order OR bank draft made payable to the New Zealand Immigration Service. Please note that bank drafts in US dollars must include a bank fee of US$10;
- Original, valid passport of you.
so i think i'm not required to pass a booking ticket to nz..?

Thanks Yossarain. I wish you good luck that your WTR is extended. I am still waiting to hear from the case officer. I wish and pray that i am granted a PR without having to go through the process of WTR. But without a job offer i doubt it. I tried with many companies in NZ but everybody suggest i meet them in person in NZ. What are the documents you need to submit along with the WTR? Do you need to submit a medical and police certificate again? I have already submitted these with my ITA.

Hello WTR guys, correct me if I am wrong, but I thought to apply for WTR you need to have a job offer on LTSSL. If so, how come you have been invited to apply for WTR?
yossarian
23rd July 2008, 03:54 AM
@kamal: i've yet to call them, 'will have to do the phone call later past 12 midnight as for the time difference. 'will let you know.
@nanskris: i applied for a skilled migrant - residency, and apparently paid for skilled migrant fees as well. however, my application for residency has been deferred, i guess, primarily because i don't have any relatives in nz, nor i have any job offer. for the mean time, they offer me to apply wtr, and which i have to apply for within 3 months, and subsequently use the visa within the next 3 months. (so more or less 6 months maximum delay time)

So, let me get this straight. They offer you to apply for WTR without a job? Wouldnt there be a section in the WTR form that asks for the NZ employer info? Or is the Skilled Migrant - WTR different from the regular WTR?
And lets say your WTR application is successful, u need to land a job within 3 months? Is that what you mean by 'use'? Or could you still enter NZ with that visa and look for a job based on your Skilled Migrant - WTR?
yossarian

@nanskris: the forms we need to submit are minimal. actually for my case, no additional information from what i sent for my ITA except for my original passport, proof of financial capability to survive for a few months, and for outward ticket from NZ. the other additional documents are merely to indicate name, passport #, etc... not about work information or job offer in NZ.
i suppose they have a different process for WTR offers coming from pending skilled migrant applications and WTR thru job offers in NZ.
as for the WTR validity, i need to use the visa within 3 months. meaning i have to enter nz within three months time even without job offer. unfortunately, i'm having problems about that..because i don't intend to move to NZ until mid 2009. that would have been simple if i have residency right away. they deferred my residency application for 9 months. during that 9-month period, i may be issued a working visa and if i found a job and able to demonstrate my ability to settle in NZ, i may eventually be given residency.
sounds complicated but i can't complain more if i only have 110 points, about 4 years experience in the IT, no job offer nor relatives or anyone i know in nz(except from friendly people here of course :) ) .

Kamal i know that there is an embassy of New Zealand in Riyadh. I had contacted them regarding the details of police certificate from saudi arabia. I dont have the embassy number with me right now as i am on a vacation in india. But i am sure you can get the number from directory services of saudi arabia.

sorry for waking up my thread, but i have to say that my case officer in beijing did not allow any extension for WTR offer.
i am reluctant to submit my application at the moment, as i have to use my passport by september 13 to get back to the philippines. i only have visa in the US until sept 15, and beijing immigration has been slow in some part of my application that i don't want to take risks.
deadline for my WTR is sept 20. so as to say, i have to submit my application the very moment i landed in manila. :(
