Can you not just send the original? They should be able to return them within the month.

Rammer,
I copied just the picture page, but when I took papers down to London, the lady put those copies to one side. So I'm not sure if they were needed or not?
We sent passports in after being granted PR

Rammer,
I did photocopies everything (from front page all the way till the end) and have it certified by my consulate general officer.
you can always send the originals, but I sent the photocopies instead.

I just did the picture page too - that was satisfactory for NZIS in London.

Hi,
I emailed NZIS and they said the picture page/number page is ok, they didn't want the rest but it had to be a certified copy.
Cheers

Hi,
we sent in certified copies, just of the photo page - I checked with NZIS in London first as I remembered seeing a post from someone who had photocopied every page.
We didi't send the originals as we needed the passports for a trip abroad. You can always send them in to be stamped once you have your PR approved.
Good luck

we went to london for the day and took all of our originals and they sorted everything out ,then called back and our visa's were in the passports. when we apply for PR we handed them in with all the paper work, and went back the next day to collect them.

Slightly different lilt to this question
How long do you have to have left on your passport. Rhiannon's only has just over a year left. Do we need to get a new one?

Hello
You need to copy the page with your photo, signature and passport number showing. If you are not sending in your original passport then the copy must be certified by an authorised person. (as listed in the documents, i.e. notary public etc.,)
It probably doesn't stipulate this but colour copies of passports are not acceptable and can be regarded as illegal from a forgery point of view ... so make sure it's a black & white copy.
Good Luck
