Hi
Just joined this forum today. My partner and I are exploring the options available to us to emigrate. He is heading toward 48 and I am a little older :roll. I hope there are some other more mature people here too on the forum????

Currently I work in local government in childrens services and have a very broad range of experience. My partner is in the marine engineering industry (manual).

A colleague of mine emigrated to NZ recently and she worked first for the probation service and suggested to me that I could get work there. She has a NZ partner and they have got a house with a couple of acres and she sounds nicely settled and chilled.

I was wondering how much more difficult it is likely to be for people my age to get work?

Anyway just wanted to say hi to you lovely peeps and I'll drift around a while and read the posts and probably ask some questions in some of the other forums.

:)

Hi Potti, welcome to the forum, I think 56 is the upper age limit for applications, I may be wrong. I would say just go for it

Hi & welcome. My partner and I are also aged to perfection (he's 60, I'm 53). We applied when we did because 55 is the upper-est age limit to emigrate for the primary applicant, and the process should be well underway well before that. Do check on the immigration website to confirm, but that has been the case so far. If you "age out," then perhaps your partner could be the primary applicant--we took the Skilled Migrant route, which does have that age limit. Some other categories do not, I think. Good luck with everything! S.

Welcome, who said you were an "oldie"? Don't believe them, we are about the same "vintage", and as they say some things improve with age.

We recently arrived in NZ on a Long Term Business Visa, there is NO upper age limit on this type of visa, good luck with your application.

Best wishes

Hi Potti, and welcome.....

If I recall, I think Immigration suggest that you should start the process by the age of 53 as it can take some time to go through but the upper limit is 55 or 56 I think?

Have you done a points check? This site will help with lots of your questions..

There have been a few posts on here regarding employment and age but I can't find them at the mo. Have you tried a search? I don't think you've anything to worry about regarding age/employment. What's your occupation?

Anyway, I'm sure you'll be fine...

Good Luck

Good luck with everything! I think the age thing won't give you a lot of points but the work experience will! :)
