Not for us this question but OH has a colleague who is hoping to go to NZ with a job offer and WTR. His queston is can his wife work or does she need some sort of visa?

Not having looked at this option I haven't got a clue to the answer.
I have suggested they join the forum too :nice1

There is some kind of Family Stream work visa for even a regular work visa so I'm sure there is for WTR as well. If I recall the WTR program allows for student visas for school attending dependents and a work visa for partners.
The Family Stream is a visa granted if your partner has a work visa. It only requires that your partner have a job offer/job. A partners work visa under the family stream category allows a partner to work, and is good for as long as the original work visa holder's job contract is for.
At the very least there would be that, though I don't know they exact specifics of the WTR.

When your colleague applies for a WTR then they also submit applications for work visa for the OH and student visas for any school aged children.

The OH will be granted a general work visa and be able to take up any job that they choose.
