Just wondering how long people started applying for jobs and contacting employers and recruitment agencies before they went out for a reccie or job finding trip?
A month, a few weeks, longer, less time?
Trying to get my OH to start, but he thinks it is too soon. We'll arrive on Sept 16th in Auckland.

If you're hoping to relocate/settle by mid-late Sept, it's not at all too early to begin sending out queries/CVs. In fact, it may be time to start hustling! You'll need time to negotiate and, hopefully, have several offers to sift thru to determine the best fit.

I saw the advert back in November 2007 which found me the job. Had phone interviews in April time and contracts signed in May.

Hi,

I think it is not too early to apply now. As I apply for a job in May, 4 times phone interviewed during May and June and the General Manager said I definitely got the job offer but until now they have not given me any job confirmation, instead, just asked me to provide more information like reference checks.

So, until today I still doubt of the job confirmation. It really take time, no harm to apply first.

OH made contact, had telephone interview and got job offer in October 2006 and we arrived in NZ May 2007. We would have arived earlier but I was pregnant at the time and wanted to wait until baby was 3 months old.

I remember I was pregnant with my middle child (born in end of jan) and it was before christmas when my OH contact recruitment agency and we flew out in end of march for interviews and reccie. So it is not too early!
