I've been thinking about sending off a letter with my ITA addressed to the medical assessor that contains the kind of information I would write in a medical waiver. How much I exercise, what I eat, the kind of shape I'm in, what I do to maintain my health, etc.
Is this presumptuous? Should I wait for them to ask for one? Would an unsolicited letter of this sort be frowned upon?

If I shouldn't send one I can always have it ready for when they do want one...

When i sent in my forms and medical info for PR under partnership i had to do a covering letter, in that letter i did indicate that i was aware there could be problems and that i would probably need to ask for a waiver. It was just a one liner.

Three weeks later the letter i received back after assessing my paperwork said that i had failed on my medical and gave me indications of the direction to go in applying for a waiver. I did that within 3 days........simple letter covering the three points they talked about in the letter.......it went in last friday i received a mail on tuesday this week from my case officer to say that it was currently being assessed and i had to submit the letter i had sent electronically .......... yesterday Thursday i got mail to say that the waiver had been agreed and that i would be hearing from them to confirm within 2 to 3 weeks.

In answer to your question i would just follow the process because if you have to apply for a waiver the letter telling you the reasons why your application had failed will also give you the path to follow in the waiver letter you need to send. Hope that all makes sense :exit

Just wait until they ask for more information. You may not need it all. If everything comes back within normal range, they don't want to hear details about what everyone is doing to maintain their health. If you do need to have your medical history reviewed by the assessors, they'll tell you exactly what they need and from whom (it's NOT more info from the applicant but rather specialists in the field of concern).

Good luck sorting thru that ITA!!
