Ok,
Our eoi was selected 2 weeks ago with a job offer, and while i know it can take a while, i thought with job offer it would be quite quick and so far we have not heard a thing except our status changing on the website.
my wifes potential employer wants her there by october as well so time is moving on.
I dont remember there being a section on the eoi to state the date needed to start work so how will they know how urgent it is?
Is there a way of contacting them? or are we being really impatient?

they are a bit hard to pin down until your get a letter/email from them - which will give you a contact name. 2 weeks isn't a huge amount of time so far - but i'd say you should hear something soon :)

At the same time I don't see that dropping an email or calling someone to alert them to this fact would be a bad thing. At least it may draw someone's attention to your file languishing at the bottom of an intray ;) - as you have a job offer lined up this might (i say MIGHT!!) chivvy them up!

Hi Walshy
I was finding it extremely frustrating waiting and hearing nothing. At the 4 week mark I did call NZ to see if I could get some information. I was told that it could take up to 12 weeks for the EOI to get looked at if you are applying from outside of the country. Umm...but I have a job! She was at least helpful and we discussed getting a work visa in the meanwhile, so that at least I could get into the country and start working. It's so frustrating seeing others (even though I am very happy for them) who have applied at the same time and even after you getting their ITA's. I'm still convinced that my application is lost somewhere, because I have heard nothing from them regarding my EOI.
But it definitely won't hurt to talk to them. The couple of times I've talked to them, they have been very helpful.
Good luck with everything and I hope you hear from them soon! :)

I've had nothing since May 21 when I got an email saying I had been selected from the EOI pool. Is that what your letter is about or is it something else? I think I'm going to contact them again as I'm now at week number 8, this is crazy.
On a brighter note, I did receive an email this morning saying that they have approved my work visa application. I had applied for that in the meantime because I wasn't sure if PR would come through on time and I gotta get outta here. So at least I've got that visa to start my new adventure on. They can continue to work at a snail's pace on my PR. :D

We are looking to be there for october, maybe we should get a temp working visa in the meantime, but we then run the risk of being out there and being turnt down for residency

I applied for the Work to Residency visa, not the temporary visa. Honestly can't say I really know what the difference is between them all! But you do have to hand in police and medical checks and other stuff for WTR visa, so hopefully that means that PR would not be a problem. It took about 3 weeks to go through.
