For those considering renting a house in NZ or becoming a landlord in NZ there is a new resource online that may be of use.

This website can help both tenants and landlords to make more informed decisions, before entering into tenancy agreements, by providing improved public access to the orders of the Tribunal.

Go to The Tenancy Tribunal (http://www.justice.govt.nz/tenancy-tribunal/index.html) and then you can search for tenants or landlords to see if they have been before the tribunal before and what the reasons were.

Saw Fair Go, did you?

Yep, we have used them to solved disputed over bond with our landlady...

Another best tip that we did is photos everything you found damaged/dirt/cracked/moulds as well as states of garden etc BEFORE you move in and ensure got date on it that was taken on the day you move in...and use it when landlord get funny about cracked, dirt etc on day you move out that wasn't done by you by just mention to him that you got copy of photos...soon he hear that, he will back off quickly ;)
