Today, we finally got our pretty blue stickers... I'm going to Qantas tomorrow to secure a migrant fare which allows 40KG of baggage per person and its at a nice flat rate!

We will arrive in Wellington on the 1st week of August. It was a long wait but certainly worth it!!!

See you soon!!!:raebanana:raebanana:raebanana

Congratulations - I'm delighted for you. :raebanana Can I ask what a migrant fare is? (apart from the obvious) Is it something that's negotiated with them directly - haven't seen any mention of this type of fare before.

The migrant fare is offered by Qantas as a special 1 way ticket for immigrants. Here in Manila they quoted us a flat rate which is about NZ$ 100 more than the cheapest regular fare. The main advantage is that each seated passenger is alloted 40 kilos of baggage each. So there will be my OH, my son and myself.. = 120 kilos + our 6 month old daughter = 10 kilos. That would make 130Kg total and there are no restrictions as to how many pieces of luggage you bring as long as you do not exceed the baggage allowance alloted to you.

This fare is only offered if you deal directly with the Qantas office. However it would be wise if you also bring your passports as proof that you have been given the "outward passage" exemption.

Hope that helps. :o
