Hi,

I was just wondering for those of you who buy your lunch each day, how much roughly do you spend?

I'm aiming to take lunch with me most days but I also have to be realistic that this will not happen every day :p so just trying to work it into my budget.

Thanks.

the odd days I have lunch out its between 3.50 for a basic subway (no drink) up to $12ish for a meal deal from a food court. An average BK meal is about $7 there are some nice sandwich and noodle bars kicking about too that I would guess would be under $10 for a snack...

Budget $10 and you will be safe - but like anything it is very personal and if you never want more than a small sandwich then $10 is high.

Also depends on where you work as some places have subsidised canteens

My OH works on Queens St, central CBD of Auckland he has also worked on client site where they had a subsidised canteen. Since March (when we started keeping very close watch on our budget/money) until now his cheapest lunch has been $5.30 and his most expensive $19.00.

In general he now takes his lunch with him but we work on the basis that if he is going to have lunch out it will generally cost somewhere around $10.00.

Agree with the above, probably between $6-$10 in Wellington. 5-6 pieces of sushi at the fantastic Midland Sushi about $6 or $7. Sometimes just go to the deli at New World and make up some sandwiches. Employer also provides microwave, fridges, toastie makers etc. Some of the larger firms also have visiting caterers for prepared sandwiches, soup etc. Most of the malls will have food halls where you can get an amazingly eclectic selection for between $5-$10 noodles, curries, Chinese you name it they sell it.

$10, with an extra couple of dollars if you want a smoothie or something like that to drink.

Cheers

OH not 'allowed' to buy lunch :D (unless I feel sorry for him for leaving his sarnies in the fridge, like he did earlier this week :laugh)

A proper sit-down curry in Little India (just off Courtenay Place, Wellington) costs $10. That price (lunch time only) includes rice and a plain naan, and they always bring jugs of water to the table. It's an absolute bargain, and really good curry to boot.
