hi, since WTR visa entitles a 9-month working visa, how could you search for a long-term jobs like permanent positions? 'would employers take you seriously if they knew that you're only allowed to work in nz for such a short time?
my residency application has been deferred, and i might be issued a WTR instead.
thanks,
jeremy

You may want to worry a little...
First you will need to find a job that is prepared to give you at least a 6 month contract and then will accept that your WTR will be changed for a PR.
Others have posted on this forum that they found that many employers are unaware of this type of WTR, so don't understand that you will be able to continue working beyond the length listed on your WTR and so will not be inclined to offer you a job.
Others may be able to offer their experiences regarding this.

If you are paying the migrant levy in NZ then it is NZ$300 per applicant upto a max of NZ$1200 per family.
For other countries then expect to pay approx this amount converted to local currency.

i believe once the wtr is approved, we have to pay the migrant levy.
thanks for the information! so not only that we have to deal with extra tasks processing WTR, job hunting is a bit hampered as well! :(
