I noticed that when I'm looking at real estate to by that none of the homes seem to have screens....Are there no bugs flying in? What's up... :P

Welcome to the forum!

There are bugs. Most notably sandflies and mosquitos. Also some spiders (more prevalent in the north island than the south, but they're around), wetas, regular flies, ants and others. Flyscreens simply haven't been a big item in NZ. If you want to learn more about these critters, I'd suggest you do a quick search on the old forum for the above.

It's one of the first things we'll be doing to any home we purchase in NZ, adding flyscreens. I've said before it's not a bad business idea for some handy person who likes working outside!
