Hey everyone:) I been researching banks in NZ for credit cards. I currently live in the US and moving to NZ in Dec family stream. I have several US credit cards with decent limits and will keep them when I live in NZ. But I'm guessing I need to build credit in NZ. Will I need to find a job first and have employment history etc... Or is there a bank where I can give them a deposit of $3k for a 2k limit card? What did you do to get your first credit card in NZ.

You don't have to build credit in NZ - the system here is different to the US in that only negative credit is recorded against you.
I just applied to the bank online for a credit card, was approved and sent one within the week. I didn't have to go into the branch or have any verifications on what I had claimed on the online form. (I don't bank with the company I have the card with either.)
