Hi,
I read that NZ is currently in/ approaching recession: http://edition.cnn.com/2008/BUSINESS/07/07/nz.recession.ap/index.html.

I am curious how this affects some your decisions to migrate. What are the implications for new migrants? I can only think of cheaper housing as a positive consequence of recession but there're other concerns like inflation and lack of jobs.

What do the rest think?

I think there is actually a worldwide recession, not just NZ!

I have actually considered this a fair bit actually... I think in this day-and-age, employers don't have the loyalty to staff (and visa versa), so if you could be in your employment for x years and simply be made redundant... so go for it anyway! ;)
